Overview
Hikkaduwa lies about three hours south of Colombo, at the heart of the palm-fringed West coast, and conveniently placed for the historic town of Galle.The major refurbishment and rebranding of Amaya Reef (formerly known as The Reefcomber) suggests that confidence is stirring again in Hikkaduwa. In its previous guise, the hotel provided a popular but fading budget base for the wide range of watersports available on this section of the coast.

The bar is found between the main building and the seaside restaurant. Choose your pleasure from a selection of cocktails, beers, wines, shooters. Adventurous revellers are invited to try a drink made from the strong local coconut liquor arrack.

A good-sized swimming pool has a stirring aspect over Hikkaduwa's broad and golden sands. The Waves restaurant, has both eastern and western food and a nightly theme menu. There are two bars. TV lounge, souvenir and jewellery shops, water polo, volleyball, table tennis, darts. Wide range of watersports nearby, including surfing, windsurfing, diving on coral reef. International surfing championships in November are a special attraction. The Reef also catcdhes Hikkaduwa's informal mood with a small nightclub where there is also controlled access fdoir non-residents. Further improvements planned for the 2006/7 winter season included an indoor a/c bar.
